Nomad Campervans NZ information

Travelling in a Nomad campervan or motorhome is an ideal way to see and experience what NZ has to offer, and all at your leisure. Vehicle hires include unlimited kilometres, breakdown service and come fully equipped with everything you need for a great holiday.

Prices quoted are in NZ dollars. The insurance bond which in most cases is held in the form of a credit card imprint and is not debited unless Nomad incures costs arising from your hire, such as accidents)  

Nomad Campervans NZ Rental Terms

PICKUP LOCATIONS
Pick up and drop off Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch Airports by arrangement (you must provide your flight number, arrival time and airline you are arriving into New Zealand on)

Free pickup and drop-off within 5kms from these airports, other locations by arrangement (please enquire at the time of your booking)

Late returns can incur fees, vehicles returned a day or more late will incur a fee of 250% of the daily charges.

Vehicles must be returned in a reasonably clean and tidy condition will full fuel tank.

A fee of $50 will be charged for after hours (6:00pm to 7:00am) pickup and drop-off.

HIRE PERIOD
The stanard minimum hire period is seven days. Hire commences from the day of pick up to the day of drop off. Hire charges are based on a daily cost calculated from day of pick up as day one to drop off as the last day. The minimum hire may extend to 14 days in peak season (from November to February), sometimes we will accept bookings less than 14 and 7 days if the availability allows - this is at the discretion of the supplier.

UNLIMITED TRAVEL
All of Nomad's daily rental rates are on an unlimited kilometer basis.

DIESEL TAX
Diesel tax will be charged for diesel powered vehicles at $5.00 per 100 kilometres

CAMPING PARKS
There are more than 300 fully equipped camping parks spread around New Zealand. Booking is not normally necessary except during the peak holiday periods (December to January for popular areas).

THE CAMPERVANS AND MOTORHOMES
6 Berth motorhomes are 2006 Mitsubishi Canter Diesel.
4 Berth motorhomes are 1994 - 1996 Mitsubishi or Isuzu diesel units - All units are very clean, tidy and reliable.

ROAD RULES
In New Zealand we drive on the left side of the road and give way to traffic from the right. Speed limits are strictly enforced: 50 kilometers per hour in urban areas and 100 kilometers per hour on the highways. Distances are measured in kilometers.

NO SMOKING
No smoking allowed in our vehicles.

PETS
No pets allowed in our vehicles, how ever we can make exceptions in the case of special circumstances, a fee of 15% of the hire charge will usually apply.

DRIVER'S LICENCE
A standard car licence with a photo is all that is required to drive a campervan or RV in New Zealand. All drivers must present a current New Zealand, International, or acceptable overseas license written in English at commencement of hire, Hirers and drivers must be over 21 years of age, for hirers under 25 years the insurance rate is 25% more than the quoted rate.

DEPOSIT
A 15% deposit is required upon confirmation.

CANCELLATION POLICY
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:

Cancellation fee applicable to all confirmed bookings is $50.00

Additional to this $50.00 fee the below charges also apply:
Cancellation 28 days + prior to pick-up date - No fee
Cancellation 27 days to 9 days prior to pick-up date - 15% of gross rental
Cancellation  8 days or less prior to pick up date - 50% of gross rental (includes deposit)
Cancellation within 48 hours of pick up date or no show - 100% (includes deposit)
Cancellation If vehicle is returned early unless approved by management - No Refund

ALTERATION POLICY
Alterations incur a $50.00 charge

PAYMENT
An initial non-refundable deposit will be secured at time of booking confirmation. Visa and Mastercard (only) are accepted. The final balance due will be taken from your nominated credit card directly by the Supplier  approx. 33 days prior to the pick up of your vehicle. Please ensure that you have funds available at this time.

If the booking is made within 33 days of the start then Supplier will take payment upon confirmation.

LINEN AND BEDDING
Linen and bedding will only be supplied on hires more than 8 days, how ever linen and bedding pack can be supplied for hires 8 days or less $100 per hire for 6 & 4 berth motorhomes and $70 per hire for 2 berth campers and sleepervans.

VEHICLE INSURANCE / BOND
Nomad Standard insurance (included in basic rental rates): At NZ$20 a day, this compulsory insurance insures you against recoverable 3rd party accident damage, break ins and theft (this excludes personal belongings). A damage excess of NZ$2000 applies on 2 berth Campervan and NZ $2400 for Sleepervans. A damage excess of NZ$2,500 applies on 4 Berth Motorhomes.  A damage excess of NZ$4,000 applies on 6 Berth Motorhomes. An imprint of your credit card is taken at the start of your hire to cover the excess and this is only processed if there is an accident or damage.

INSURANCE EXCESS (BOND) REDUCTION OPTIONS:
BRONZE, SILVER AND GOLD are only available on hires of 8 days or more. These are available at the time of booking or can be arranged upon arrival. The insurance excess will be held in the form of a BOND this can be paid in the form of a credit card imprint, Cash, Travelers cheques or a Bank transfer. It is fully refundable at the completion of hire; If the vehicle is returned in a reasonably clean and tidy condition - all holding and waste tanks are empty - the campervan has not been damaged or involved in an accident, the fuel tank is full - there is no additional glass damage, such as chips to the windscreen, unless the hirer has purchased GOLD Cover, in which case the hirer is covered. Traffic infringements, speeding tickets etc are the sole responsibility of the driver / hirer, should we receive a ticket from your hire then we are obliged by law to furnish NZ Police with details of your hire, it is at the discretion of the police to pursue collection of the ticket. A charge of NZ$50.00 administration fee will be charged to the Bond for each traffic ticket we receive. The damage excess (Bond) applies to each accident, in the case where the bond has been fully or partially charged a new damage excess (Bond) will be generated against the hire, there is one damage excess (bond) per accident, not per hire. An imprint of the credit card is taken at the start of your hire to cover the damage excess (bond) this is only processed if there is an accident, damage, or Nomad incurs additional costs as a result of your hire. Nomad reserves the right to debit the card for part or the total of the bond at anytime during or up to 60 days after completion of your hire.

INSURANCE OPTIONS
BRONZE, SILVER AND GOLD are only available on hires of 8 days or more, we also offer two options to reduce the bond on hirers of 8 days or less, please ask for a quote.

2 BERTH Hi-top Campervan ( $2400 bond) and Nomad Sleepervan Petrol( $2400 bond) , Nomad Seepervan Diesel ($2400)Excess Reductions:

* Option 1 Excess Reduction (Bronze Cover) = $20.00 per day

- It reduces the excess from NZD2000.00 to NZD1000.00
- The maximum amount payable for this Option per rental is NZD1000.00 – i.e. 50 days rental.
- A Bond of NZD1,000 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract.
- Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST,Complimentary Airport Transfers, Linen and Bedding Kits, Kitchen Kit, ONE Extra Driver Fees, 24hr Roadside Assistance

* Option 2 Excess Reduction (Silver Cover) NZD $24.00 per day

- It reduces the excess from NZD $2000.00 to $500.00
- The maximum amount payable for this Option per rental is NZD$1,200 – i.e. 50 days rental.
- A Bond of NZ$500 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract.
- Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Complimentary Airport Transfers, Linen and Bedding Kits, Kitchen Kit,  ONE Extra Driver Fees, 24hr Roadside Assistance

* Option 3 All Inclusive Package (Gold Cover) NZD $32 per day

-  It reduces the excess from NZD $2000.00 to NIL
- The All Inclusive Rate includes: Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Diesel Tax Recovery Fee, Complimentary Airport Transfers (within 5 kilometers of the airport), Linen and Bedding Kits, Kitchen Kit, ONE Extra Driver Fees, LP Gas Refill Fee, 24hr Roadside Assistance, Camp Chairs and Table, Maps and Camp Ground Guides,One Way Rental Fee, Free tire puncture repairs, Two free tire replacements, One free windshield replacement, Three free windshield stone chip repairs.

4 BERTH ($3000 bond) Excess Reductions:

* Option 1 Excess Reduction (Bronze Cover) = $20.00 per day

- It reduces the excess from NZD $2500.00 to NZD $1750.00
- The maximum amount payable for this Option per rental is NZ$1000.00 – i.e. 50 days rental.
- A Bond of NZ$1,750 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract.
- Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Complimentary Airport Transfers, Linen and Bedding Kits, Kitchen Kit, Extra Driver Fees, 24hr Roadside Assistance

* Option 2 Excess Reduction (Silver Cover) NZD $26.00 per day

- It reduces the excess from NZD $2500.00 to $800.00
- The maximum amount payable for this Option per rental is NZD$1,300 – i.e. 50 days rental.
- A Bond of NZ$100 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract.
- Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Diesel Tax Recovery Fee, Complimentary Airport Transfers, Linen and Bedding Kits, Kitchen Kit, Extra Driver Fees, LP Gas Refill Fee, 24hr Roadside Assistance

* Option 3 All Inclusive Package (Gold Cover) NZD $36 per day

6 BERTH ($4000 bond) Excess Reductions:

* Option 1 Excess Reduction (Bronze Cover) = $24.00 per day

- Reduces the excess from NZD $4000.00 to NZD $2000.00
- The maximum amount payable for this Option per rental is NZ$1150.00 – i.e. 50 days rental.
- A Bond of NZ$2000 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract, usually held in the form of a credit card imprint.
- Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Complimentary Airport Transfers, Linen and Bedding Kits, Kitchen Kit, Extra Driver Fees, 24hr Roadside Assistance

* Option 2 Excess Reduction (Silver Cover) NZD $30.00 per day

-  It reduces the excess from NZD $4000.00 to $1500.00
- The maximum amount payable for this Option per rental is NZ$1500 – i.e. 50 days rental.
- A Bond of NZ$100 will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract.
- Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Complimentary Airport Transfers, Linen and Bedding Kits, Kitchen Kit, Extra Driver Fees, 24hr Roadside Assistance

* Option 3 All Inclusive Package (Gold Cover)$40 per day

-  It reduces the excess from NZD $4000.00 to NIL
- The All Inclusive Rate includes: Unlimited Kilometres, 12.5% GST, Diesel Tax Recovery Fee, Complimentary Airport Transfers (within 5 kilometers of the airport), Linen and Bedding Kits, Kitchen Kit, TWO Extra Driver Fees, LP Gas Refill Fee, 24hr Roadside Assistance, Camp Chairs and Table, Maps and Camp Ground Guides,One Way Rental Fee, Free tire puncture repairs, Two free tire replacements, One free windshield replacement, Three free windshield stone chip repairs.

The hirer is fully liable for any damage to the vehicle hired or third party property if:
- Damage is caused where the terms of the Rental Contract have been breached
- Damage is caused by negligence
- Damage is caused to the vehicle in any way by part or total water submersion or salt water
- Damage is caused to the vehicle by the renter's wilful conduct
- Damage is caused to the vehicle by the use of snow chains
- Damage is caused due to a single vehicle roll over
- Damage or loss is caused to any personal belongings
- Damage is caused due to use of incorrect or contaminated fuel
- Damage is caused to the vehicle when using the vehicle in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic

WINDSCREENS
Windscreen breakage is not covered by the bond and will be deducted from the bond, unless you have purchased GOLD Cover or Bond reduction Options 1 or 2

LIABILITY
In the event of any unforeseen circumstances or breakdowns, Nomad Motorhome & Car Rentals Ltd will only be liable for the amount of your daily hire.

SLEEPERVAN EQUIPMENT
Includes the following equipment: Pillows, sheets, duvet or sleeping bags, single burner portable gas cooker, pots /pans, cups / plates, cutlery, Kettle, chilly bin (eski, cooler) 20 litre water bottle etc. all you need to have a great holiday.

4 & 6 BERTH MOTORHOME EQUIPMENT
Includes the following equipment: towels, linen, pillows, duvets or sleeping bags, cutlery, crockery % cooking utensils, maps and brochures, 4 berth sleeps 4 adults (2 twin beds, 1 permanent over the cab and the table in the rear folds down to a double) 6 Berth sleeps 6 adults (3 twin beds, 1 permanent over the cab, the bench seat behind the drivers seat converts to a double bed and the table in the rear folds down to a double) power: 240v AC / 12v DC, hot / cold water, electric heater, 12v / 240v refrigerator, 3 burner gas hob, microwave, toilet / shower, etc.

Terms of booking on this website

Information disclaimer
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
